With heart disease recognized as the leading cause of death in the United States and congestive heart failure as the leading diagnosis of patients in Forbes Hospital, it is critical to have an advanced cardiac care facility that the community can rely on.In 2006 Ed Dardanell, of Oakmont, PA, realized the importance of such a facility and made a most generous planned gift to support the new cardiac services at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital — Forbes Regional Campus. In recognition of his gift, The Ed Dardanell Heart and Vascular Center was named in his honor.
